Market Your Website By Creating a Buzz

In a 44-page study of word-of-mouth based on Internet chat room participation, Professors David Godes (Harvard Business School) and Dina Mayzlin (Yale School of Management) define buzz as the transfer of information from someone who is in the know to one who isn't. This is something that most of us understand intrinsically- buzz is about the “next” big thing, the one that hasn't hit yet. We hear about, and want to get in on the ground floor, so to speak.

New Age Marketing: Personalization

One branch of the alternative marketing movement that has been getting more and more attention, and becoming more and more popular, is making marketing personal. Advertisers seek to create personal connections with the people that they are seeking to entice to purchase their product. This can be done in many ways, but the most solidly constructive is the creation of “street teams.”

Pay Per Click Advertising Explained

Pay per click advertising, or PPC advertising, is a type of advertising on the Internet, which is becoming more and more popular, because of its assured benefits. It is not just another corner of the page video, or flash game; it gives actual results. The basic idea behind PPC advertising is that the person using the ads, or making them, pays a certain amount to the publisher, or publishers, of the ad for every successful click they receive from that person's website.

Promote Your Business by Blogging

A Blog is short for “Web Log”. It is essentially an online journal that people write in and make available for the world to read. Blogs are generally used by personal Internet users to write about various topics of interest or just vent their emotions to the world. But, for your average business, Blogs present an excellent and often neglected opportunity to market your products or services. Convert Customers With Good Copywriting

Good copyrighting is essential to having a successful Internet website. Just for those of you who don’t know, the “copy” is any sort of text-based content that’s included in an advertisement. No, a website is not an advertisement, but nonetheless, you are still trying to sell yourself, your company, ideas, and products or services. Not only does good copy pull the reader in and entice him or her to conduct business with your company, but proper writing skills are also applauded by the major search engines. If your website has spelling mistakes or contains run on or fragmented sentences, the search engines will not see your website as being credible and will bury it in the search results. The 80/20 principle comes into play here; 20% of the Internet’s websites produce 80% of the sales. The difference between a website that sells and one that doesn’t sell is good copywriting. Below are a number of tips to help you improve your website’s copy.

Oglivy on (Internet Website) Advertising

David Ogilvy was one of the most sought after executives in the advertising industry. He did not believe that advertising should be total guesswork. His firm, Ogilvy and Mather, conducted extensive research on what really works, and then shared their findings with the world. He was a college dropout and former door to door salesperson who eventually founded the largest advertising firm in the world. So, when Ogilvy writes about advertising it is worth listening to. I will be summarizing the most important parts of the print advertising section from his book. I always try to stress to clients that a website is not advertising per say, but a well designed website should share the principles that would be incorporated in a successful print advertising campaign.

Google Search Results Explained

There are many reasons why your website’s position in the search engine results will vary. One day your website could be in the top 10 for a particular key phrase, and the next day you’re not on the first page. Changes to a website’s rankings are constantly occurring because changes on the Internet are constantly occurring. But, we can narrow the cause of the change down to four different sources: your website has changed, your competitor’s websites have changed, Google has made an update in the algorithm it uses to determine search results, or you or a competitor got caught using grey area SEO techniques.

Get Your Website In Google: Article Marketing

There are many great reasons to start writing articles and syndicating them, but there are three major reasons. The most obvious reason for writing articles is to fill your website with relevant and informative content. Visitors to your website are looking for information. By adding articles to your website you are adding value to their experience and they are more likely to return and tell others about the wealth of information available on your site. Another great reason for writing your own content deals more with search engine optimization – search engines will deem your website more important if it’s full of original and relevant content. The last reason deals with link building. By submitting your article to an article syndication site, you make the article available for other website owners to include on their website, and in return they provide a link back to your website.
