Google Analytics is Good

Many clients ask me if there is a way to track the number of visitors on their website. Yes, there is, but the default Webalizer webstats are pretty raw and difficult for a non-user to understand. Google has a very powerful and easy to use solution.

Analytics is Google's very own visitor tracking utility, allowing webmasters to keep tabs on traffíc to their site, including visitor numbers, traffíc sources, visitor behaviour & trends, times spent on the site and a host of other information gathered via two pieces of JavaScrípt embedded in the source-code.

Unlike other frëe visitor trackers, which insist on displaying annoying and often amateurish badges or buttons when they are being used, Google Analytics simply runs quietly in the background, gathering the necessary information without any visible signs of its presence.

WordPress Themes

Well, it seems as though the largest website that distributes WordPress themes (themes.wordpress.net) is cracking down on sponsored links. They're apparently only accepting themes that only have 1 sponsored link.

Nice Way of Building Links

I'm in the process of sponsoring a WordPress template. WordPress is a blog publishing system similiar to Blogger, and the template being the skin or front end that the publisher and users see. By sponsoring a template, a link to my website gets embedded in the footer of the template. The hope is that thousands of bloggers will download and use this template, and I will in turn get thousands of backlinks. The backlinks most likely won't be relevent, but some could pass a little PageRank as frequently updated websites (or blogs) are given high PR. Just a tip - make sure the template you are sponsoring has the footer encrypted so your link can't be removed!

Networking Website

Got a good deal on a membership to a networking website - it looks promising, so when I get some time I'll do some prospecting and report back on the results.

Toronto SEO Update

Well, as of now www.ekonline.com is in the #5 position for "Toronto Website Design". Hopefully this position sticks. We're getting closer to rolling out our new SEO service as I think that we've proved our competence. Attaining position for this key phrase is probably one of the toughest in Canada, so gaining position in any other industry should be a piece of cake.
