Located midway
between Toronto and Hamilton, and
comprising part of the Greater Toronto
Area is the town of Oakville -
population of 165,613. As with so many
other cities and towns of the greater
Toronto area, Oakville has been
enduring a high level of growth.
The overall population of Oakville
has increased 14.4% over the course of
the past five years, which although
high, it is not as high as other cities
and towns in the greater Toronto area.
Oakville is considered an upper
middle class community with an average
median income of $83,982 and the average

The people of Oakville
are recognized for their enthusiasm for sports,
and so, Oakville is home to a variety of
both professional and non professional sports
franchises. The Oakville Blue Devils of
the Canadian Soccer League are the pride of
Oakville, as are the Oakville Blades
a "Tier II Junior A" franchise. Another sports
team that calls Oakville home are the "Oakville
Buzz", which are a junior "B" lacrosse team and
the winners of the Founders Cup in 2006.
Oakville is also represented well by the
arts community despite its not being a big city.
The Oakville Center for the Performing
Arts stays busy year round with performances by
both regional and touring artists and musicians,
as well as the Oakville Ballet Company
and the Oakville Symphony Orchestra.
