Good Web Design

If there was anything by way of a set formula for guaranteeing good web design every time, it would of course be far easier to design and build sites with the optimum levels of impact. Of course, there is not and likely never will be no such a magic formula to speak of, therefore good web design has to rely on the careful eye and trained skills of the professional designer. Indeed, without the appropriate level of consideration it is not only difficult to achieve what could be classed as good web design, but also a little too easy to slip into the realms of truly poor web design.

Regardless of all the good intentions and hard work in the world, one of the biggest slip ups so many designers make when attempting to tick all the right boxes for good web design is in fact trying too hard. This may sound illogical, but there are nevertheless so many examples of websites out there today where it is clear that the designers have spent so much time looking to impress that they have forgotten to address basic functionality requirements. Realistically, there is very little use in creating a stunning looking website that requires NASA-level training to navigate, just as an excellent navigation system is pointless if the content of the site is redundant.

The trick to good web design across the board is an excellent sense of balance that is kept in line with the purpose and target audience of the website, which not only requires a massive degree of talent, but also considerable research.

It is for this exact reason that good web design can only be assured if the task is placed in the hands of those who know the industry best and approach the task realistically. Finding the balance comes first, while blowing the site visitors away has to come second.
